The Day Thomas Will Never Forget

Once upon a time in the city of Mombasa there lived a beautiful girl named Queenventure. She was kind and honest, but also selfish. Queenventure liked decorating herself every day. Queenventure also liked swimming, dancing and playing rugby. Queenventure was sixteen years old. But the greatest secret of her life was that she never liked men.

One day as Queenventure was walking along the street she saw a handsome boy named Thomas. He was begging for food. “Why are you here begging for food?” asked Queenventure. Thomas said that he was begging because he didn’t have any money to buy food. Thomas was an orphan, he lived all alone in the street. The villagers did not like Thomas because he was dirty and lazy. Thomas was 12 years old, and he did not want to learn. The thing he wanted to do most was sing and play football, but at school he was best at maths.

Queenventure was very worried and she wanted to take care of Thomas. She didn’t want to be selfish with him. She told him, “Come and stay with us in our home, please.”

Thomas said “Yes, I will stay with you. Thank you, Queenventure.” Then they went home together. When they reached Queenventure’s house, Queenventure’s mother was shocked because she thought that she had seen a giant in her house. So she asked Queenventure, “Who is this man?”

Queenventure said, “Mum, I found him in the street begging for food, so I brought him to our house so we can make him happy.” Queenventure’s mother called her servants so they could wash Thomas.

One day Queenventure was walking in the forest collecting flowers when she heard deep sounds coming from the river saying, “I want to eat you!” Queenventure didn’t care for that and so she went home.

Two moons later Queenventure decorated herself and then she went to the River to fetch water. While she was fetching water she saw a big Giant named Othorong’ongo. Othorong’ongo was a dangerous Giant in Mombasa. He liked eating human beings and animals. When Othorong’ongo saw Queenventure he admired her for her beauty because he had never seen a girl like her before.

Queenventure was shocked to see the Giant and she asked him, “What do you want from me?”

Then the Giant said, “I want to hold you close under the rain and I want you to marry me.”

“Do I look like a Giant with three yellow eyes? I will never marry you, stupid,” said Queenventure.

At that moment, Thomas came by and took Queenventure. When Othorong’ongo saw Thomas taking Queenventure away he started chasing them and using his powerful ring. But Thomas didn’t care about the Giant’s power, he took out his knife and destroyed the Giant with his knife and that was the end of the Giant.

The villagers were very happy with Thomas because he had killed the Giant. They cheered for Thomas. One Monday evening Queenventure and Thomas were under the tree talking. Thomas told Queenventure that he wanted to marry her.  “Queenventure, will you marry me?” he asked.

“But I don’t like men! Please, I won’t marry you,” answered Queenventure.

Thomas knelt down and started crying and begging Queenventure to marry him. Finally, Queenventure said, “Yes, I will marry you, Thomas.” Thomas was very happy.

On Sunday they got married in church and Queenventure later bore a baby boy named Thomas, like his father, and they lived a happy life believing in Jesus Christ, not the Giant.
